NORAD fighter jets fly high over British Columbia today

Air defense exercise takes place February 15

British Columbians may spot some unusual activity high up in the sky today.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) says it’s conducting a live-fly air defense exercise off the coasts of B.C. and Washington State today, February 15.

In support of Operation Noble Eagle, the name given to air defense and sovereignty missions in North America, both American and Canadian aircrafts will be flown over high altitude, including fighter aircrafts.

Recently there were four unidentified objects shot down over North America, but NORAD says this exercise is routine and not connected to the alarming sightings over the last couple of weeks.

NORAD is actively monitoring for air space violations and threats twenty-four hours a day 365 days a year, and these exercises are to prepare for any serious threat including highjackings and  aerospace violations.

Experts believe that both China and Russia could be responsible for the the recent air balloons  seen floating in North American skys, but won't be proven until the balloons and devices inside are inspected.
