Thousands of people flocked to Marine Avenue between Duncan and Alberni streets on Friday, August 19, to listen to music, meet up with acquaintances and family members, and most importantly, indulge in the tastes of the qathet region’s dedication to all things blackberry.
Origins of the local Blackberry Festival date back to 1985. The event continued on an annual basis until the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in cancellations in 2020 and 2021.
The 2022 celebration concluded with a fireworks display at Willingdon Beach.
