PHOTOS: Polar bear swim tradition continues in qathet region

Brave participants took to the waters at Willingdon Beach on New Year's Day

Cheers from spectators rang in the new year as participants ventured into the ocean to continue the New Year’s Day Polar Bear Swim tradition at Willingdon Beach in the qathet region on Monday, January 1.

Cold-water-swimming diehards and special-occasion-only dippers were not deterred by the cool waters, although some only partook in a quick dunk and splash, while a few took their time to embrace the chilly waters before returning to shore. Who’s tempted to join in the fun next year?
