Powell River student Sawyer Dunlop [left] recently received a $1,000 trade scholarship for Vancouver Island University from Nanaimo-Ladysmith Conservative Electoral District Association.
Board member Doug Johnston made the presentation to Dunlop and five other VIU students who received the same recognition.
Dunlop has taken welding and heavy duty mechanic courses with a goal of achieving Red Seal certification.
