An enduring Christmas tradition in Powell River continues this year, bringing a sprinkle of festive cheer to Marine Avenue.
MABA (Marine Area Business Association) and Lion’s Club organizers are again putting together their annual Santa Claus Christmas Parade.
This year it will commence at 3 pm on Sunday, December 7.
Cathy MacDonald, MABA president, said that they will continue with the same format because it works.
“And, we always have nice weather, so hopefully that will be the same this year, too,” said MacDonald, who has been helping organize the event for the past eight years.
The parade will take its decorated floats and marchers from the foot of Westview Avenue along Marine to Alberni Street.
It will include entries from Powell River Community Choir, Assumption Catholic School, Canada Post, Quality Foods and a wide variety of youth-based community groups.
Judges outside the Jailhouse Café will select entries this year in four categories: best musical, most original, best overall and most festive.
