Powell River Public Library’s regular Wednesday preschool storytime is moving to Westview Elementary School beginning on Wednesday, November 13.
One thing won’t change—presenter Deb Zagwyn will still do the stage production and performance each week, with her ever-entertaining selection of the best-of-the-best book tales.
“In some ways, we’re the victim of our own success,” said Zagwyn. “As attendance grew, it simply became impossible to fit any more people into our very tight space in the children’s area of the library. We became concerned as some parents told us they couldn’t attend anymore because there just wasn’t space, it was too cramped and airless.”
The library was reluctant to move storytime because one of the wonderful things that happens when storytime is at the library is that children begin to make that very important connection to the library that often stays with them for a lifetime.
Still, the library is excited to be able to use the new Early Childhood Community Room at the school and is very grateful to everyone there who has helped facilitate the change.
Storytime is for preschool children accompanied by a parent or guardian and begins at 10:30 am in room 143.
