BC’s West Coast communities will have the opportunity to experience the music of the band Chilliwack this May. Its tour of the coast includes a stop in Powell River.
Chilliwack is a Canadian rock band that has been making music for over 40 years and is celebrating with a four-venue mini-tour in May which will include stops in Nanaimo, Qualicum, Powell River and Duncan.
The band’s five biggest songs during the peak of its career in the 70s and 80s were “My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone),” “I Believe,” “Watcha Gonna Do,” “Fly at Night” and “Lonesome Mary.” The band was formed in 1964 in Vancouver. It was named Chilliwack in 1970 after a Coast Salish term which means “going back up.”
Chilliwack will be in Powell River at 7:30 pm on Thursday, May 10 at Evergreen Theatre, Powell River Recreation Complex. Tickets are $40 and available from the recreation complex box office.
