In Opening Night, the audience meets the Tisdales, a typical couple celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. Ruth is thrilled to be expanding her cultural horizons at her first live theatre performance, while Jack would rather be home watching the World Series.

The Tisdales meet the cast and crew of a new Canadian play: Libby Husniak, the ever-eager buxom starlet; Clayton Fry, the aging British “Romeo;” Michael Craig, the washed-up “yesterday’s news;” Tom Delaney, the aspiring young actor who struggles to get an audition; and Richard Hyde-Finch, the blustery, sarcastic director and his long-patient partner Cilla Fraser, who are suddenly faced with life-changing events. (“Get pregnant? What? Here? Right now?”)

Opening Night will be performed at the Texada Island Community Hall in Gillies Bay. Doors open at 6:30 pm for 7 pm performances. Tickets are available only at the door and cost $10, students and seniors $7. Note, there is some adult content.

Powell River patrons can take the 5:40 pm ferry from Westview Terminal with ample time to return on the 10:10 pm sailing.
