Exhibition displays heart-felt art

Since Vi Isaac moved to Powell River eight years ago she has been involved in painting expeditions to New Zealand, France and Italy.

This past October she spent a week in Cinque Terre and a week in Tuscany painting with Melbourne watercolourist, David Taylor. Although Isaac enjoys these trips tremendously, her major subjects continue to be coastal scenes and florals, painted in acrylics or watercolours.

Coastal Serenity is the name of Isaac’s art exhibit opening at the Malaspina Exhibition Centre in Vancouver Island University’s foyer. A reception opens the show from 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, January 10. A painting commissioned by Phillip George will be unveiled at the show opening.

Besides painting and travelling, Isaac is continuing to support Heart to Heart, a school and orphanage in Haiti. Ten per cent of the proceeds from the sales during this January show will go to H2H which is a Canadian registered charity. The charity’s website www.hearttohearthaiti.com provides more information about the organization, plus, by searching the archives for “Rebecca’s blog,” readers can look back at Isaac’s visit to Haiti in December 2010.

Isaac’s work is currently on display at Little Hut Curry, 4623 Marine Avenue.
