Renaissance man involved with many aspects of art
Fine arts on display at exhibition

Malaspina Art Society features the artwork of Lowell Morris at an upcoming exhibit at the Vancouver Island University (VIU) exhibition space.

Morris has been a professional artist since graduating from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver over 20 years ago. His paintings and drawings are based on vivid subjects from nature, as well as local Powell River scenes such as the Willingdon Beach trail or the hulks.

He is also the owner and operator of Lowell Morris Portraits and Fine Arts, a company specializing in custom, commissioned portraits of people, pets and homes. The family pet has been an especially popular subject for commissioned portraits.

Morris is a bit of a “Renaissance man” in the arts: he is also the flute instructor at Powell River Academy of Music, and has worked as a music composer for film, concerts, dance, and such diverse events as the popular annual Stanley Park Halloween Ghost train. He is also an art instructor, currently teaching a drawing course at Powell River Recreation Complex.

His art opening will be held from 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, November 10 at VIU, Powell River. Refreshments will be served. Morris’s art will be displayed until December 6. For more information, interested readers can view Morris’s art on his website.
