The Candy Cane Dragon Saves Christmas

Zoe Moloughney
Westview Elementary School

On one frosty, cold night, the night of Christmas Eve, Lilly and Emily were just getting tucked in when Lilly heard a bang on the window. BANG, BANG, BANG. Lilly opened the window with fear.

There was a note with letters on it. It said “Help, Christmas is in danger. I know I can trust you. From Santa.”

On the back of the paper there was a contract. Emily, the sister who was one minute older than Lilly, decided to sign it. After Emily signed the paper, the paper flew into the air and disappeared.

A minute later, elves came in through the window and told the two girls to hop in, so they did. They went through snow and ice and finally wastelands where all evil lives to save Santa from Saverthorn, one of the most powerful demons ever to live. He wanted to take Santa’s sleigh so he could bring nightmares of Christmas into children’s dreams and turn them into evil, rotten kids so he could rule the land.

So, Emma, Lilly and the elves snuck into Saverthorn’s castle and whistled to the candy cane dragon so he could help them save Santa. The candy cane dragon showed up and sat right on Saverthorn’s head. The smell and sight of the candy cane dragon brought Saverthorn to tears.

Saverthorn promised to leave the island forever if the candy cane dragon let him go. That is why you never try to kidnap Santa.

Snowball ambush

Dexter Harburn
James Thomson Elementary School

One lovely winter evening, it was probably the biggest snowfall of the year. I had just finished eating dinner and my dad went to go for a walk around the block.

That gave me an idea. After we let him go, I told my mom my idea. It was to collect snowballs and ambush him when he got back. My mom thought that was a good idea and we should start collecting snowballs right now. So, we went to the end of the driveway and started making snowballs.

When we were done, we just had to wait for him to come back. Suddenly I heard a noise in the bushes so I slowly crept toward the bush where I heard the noise. It was very dark so I could just see into the bush and I could see a faint person in the bushes. By then I had pieced it together that my dad knew I was going to ambush him so he made snowballs to fight back.

I ran back to my mom and told her what I saw. So, we grabbed some snowballs and attacked. Somehow it became a free-for-all. Eventually we came inside and made hot chocolate and watched Man Down.

Reindeer Vacation

Yashmit Nilay
Henderson Elementary School

Christmas is over and the reindeer have worked very hard. It’s time for their 11-month magical vacation. Santa uses a magical device to transport the reindeer to the special Reindeer Island.

The reindeer arrive on the island. The island is supposed to be covered in a very thick layer of snow and the trees covered in fluffy snow. But when Rudolph and the others arrived, the trees were burnt and there was smoke everywhere. There was a crater in the middle. They headed to the crater and found a snow globe! The reindeer called Santa and he arrived.

Santa said the globe could explode any second. He said that the globe is the very first Santa’s globe. The globe must have teleported to the island. They had to send it back, but the old Santa forgot to charge it, ugh. Santa had a backup in his cabin on the other side of the island so they decided to head there.

After days of travelling, they found another problem. It was a huge ice wall. It felt like a rock. Rudolph and the others tried bashing the wall with their antlers but it didn’t crack. If they can’t get through, they’ll never return home!

Rudolph didn’t give up. With his nose up, he unleashed an axe. He shattered the ice to pieces. They all thanked Rudolph for breaking the ice.

They arrived and found the device and headed back. They sent the globe back and returned for their vacation.

A Yellow Christmas

Sienna Grace Keays

Once upon a time, there was a little girl whose name was Emily. Emily lived on a farm with her family. Emily loved Christmas. It was her favourite day of the year.

One day Emily looked outside, and there was a moving van and so many dogs she could not even count them. She quickly got her coat and shoes and went outside.

There was a man, and he had some of the dogs on a leash. Emily asked the man how many dogs there were. The man said one thousand and one, “that’s why I moved into a barn.”

“Time for bed,” said Emily’s mom, calling her inside.

Before bed Emily crossed off a day on the calendar and said “just five days before Christmas!”

The next day, Emily woke up to barking. She looked out the window, and there were dogs everywhere. The snow was yellow, and she saw the man from the day before yelling, “STOP PEEING!!!”

But then, all the snow melted and the dogs floated back into the barn, and new snow appeared. Emily heard, “A merry Christmas to all!”

Emily and her family got presents early. Now Emily’s favourite day of the year was five days before Christmas.

The end.
