The hockey trip

Oh no, what do I do, what do I do? Yes I know you’re probably wondering what I am talking about. Hi, I am Kai, let’s go back a little bit.

So this weekend my hockey team went to Vancouver Island for a tournament, it was fun, the ride on the ferry was cool. But it was on the way back when it’s the exciting part.

So we are almost at the ferry, oh and did I mention it’s snowing like crazy! Outside we got in traffic because of the snow. It’s crazy how many red lights I saw from the backs of cars. We finally got to the terminal when we heard that there’s going to be a delay at the ferry because the ocean was frozen! And that’s when I said, oh no, what do I do, what do I do?

Then I thought of the craziest idea. I said to my teammates, why don’t we just skate on the ocean back to Powell River. They thought I was crazy.

So I laced up my skates and I tested out the ice, it seemed really stable so I took a few strides and I was doing it, I was skating on the ocean. It felt cool as the cold wind hit my face.

As I was skating you could see my cold breath in the air. We finally got back and as my face hit my pillow I thought about my cool adventure.

Superheroes Save Christmas

Marlan Alcock
Kelly Creek Community School

It was Christmas Eve, but of course I couldn’t sleep!

Suddenly...I heard something on the roof. What could it be this time? I checked the clock, it was nearly midnight! It didn’t sound like Santa and his reindeer, these noises were terrifying.

I wandered downstairs and what do I see? The evil Grinch stealing all the presents from under our tree. He scurries up the chimney and is gone in the blink of an eye.

What is a little nine-year-old boy to do? I think for a minute, then suddenly I know what to do! I shoot the bat signal into the sky.

Next thing you know Batman comes through my front door to greet me. Batman and I come up with a plan for him to knock the evil Grinch out of the sky with his bat-a-ring and get the presents back to my brother and I.

Batman calls on his friend Spiderman to throw a web out to catch the presents and another web to slow down the evil Grinch so Batman can tie him up with rope, and they can bring him to the police station together.

After it’s all over the superheroes join us to decorate the tree, share our presents and eat Christmas dinner, and the evil Grinch goes to jail.
The end.

The owl that loves candy canes

Makenna Hildebrand
Assumption School

On Christmas Eve I looked out my window and to my amazement I saw an owl holding a candy cane. I went to tell everyone there.

I took them to the very window where I saw the owl. The owl was gone. I was sad. A minute later I looked out the window and the owl was there.

The owl swooped to the window then swooped to the porch. The owl knocked on the door. I opened the door. The owl handed me the candy cane.

The owl had a fluffy Santa hat on. The Santa hat was red and white. The owl hooted a happy big hoot. It flew into the house. The owl hugged me and she was part of our family.

It flew to the top of our Christmas tree and hooted jingle bells. We started singing all together.

Christmas Lizard

Liam Osmond
James Thomson Elementary School

Once upon a time there was a lizard that really liked Christmas (more than Santa). He makes presents (800,000,000 presents a year). He met Santa. Santa also speaks lizard.

The lizard said, “I want to be just like you.”

Santa said, “Ho, ho, ho! You can.”

The lizard said, “How?”

“Ho, ho, ho! I can use my Christmas magic,” said Santa.

“Please do it,” said the lizard.

“Sure,” said Santa. “What do you want your name to be?” said Santa.

“Christmas Lizard,” said the lizard.

“What do you want to pull your sleigh?,” said Santa.

“Mini bunnies,” said Christmas Lizard.

Christmas Eve, Christmas Lizard spread Christmas magic to all the lizards in the world. He gave all the present he made to all the lizards in the world.
