The Snow Globe
Ryo Chisholm-Holmgren
James Thomson Elementary School
There was a snow globe that was magic. A boy found it at a thrift store, and the boy brought it home to show his mom.
The next day was Christmas Eve and he wanted to clean it up. When he rubbed it, his Christmas wish came true. It started to snow.
He was really excited. He ran outside and he started to play in the snow. He was having so much fun until it stopped snowing and the snow began to melt.
He was sad and told his mom what was going on. His mom was just as confused as he was about the snow melting.
Then he went upstairs to go see the snow globe and it had stopped snowing inside. He rubbed it and it didn’t snow as it did the last time. None of his other wishes were coming true.
He realized there was a timer on the bottom that said he had to wait another twenty hours to regenerate the power because it was no ordinary snow globe. It was made by Santa and his elves.
Christmas morning he came down and saw a new bike. He was so happy his secret wish came true.

What the Elves do on Christmas
Olivia Gottfried
École Côtedu Soleil
Attention elves!
Please stand at bay
It’s almost time to launch the sleigh
Go check the reindeer, ready the sack,
And make sure Santa has a snack.
Did he remember his hat and long underwear?
Then put in all the presents with love and with care
And now finally, Santa takes to the air
When he gets back, can you draw him a bath?
And ready the stables for the reindeer?
And now we can finally have a good laugh
And go off to bed. Until next year!

Catching Santa
Divyam Puri
Henderson Elementary School
Hi! My name is Divyam, I am from India. We have a different type of Christmas in India.
We don’t decorate anything, not even our houses or no sales in malls. When I was eight years old, I really had an interest in Santa. I wanted to meet him. So, on Christmas, I tried to catch Santa and wanted to get even more gifts than one.
To catch Santa in night I needed to be careful that I didn’t close my eyes and sleep even for a minute. So, my main move was to sleep in the afternoon. I slept from 2:30-9 pm successfully.
After that, I ate dinner and watched some TV while waiting for Santa, but I couldn’t catch him. I stayed up all night. He never came to India.
In the morning my mom and dad woke up. My eyes were black and they asked me to go to sleep. After this incident, I started believing not in Santa and I had no interest in Christmas until now that I live in Powell River.
I hope Santa comes to my house this year at Christmas.

The most memorable Christmas
Landyn Dingwall
James Thomson Elementary School
On the night before Christmas, in a small town called Powell River, there lived a boy named Rick. He woke up in the dead of night to get a glass of milk. As he reached the bottom of the stairs, he saw Santa Claus standing in the middle of the room with a huge bag of presents. He gasped and almost fainted.
Santa Claus said, “What’s wrong young man?” He could see the sadness in Rick’s face.
Rick said, “My parents just split up.”
Santa Claus said “Come with me boy. I’ve got something that will amaze you.”
Santa Claus brought Rick to his sleigh. Rick smiled. He wrote a note to put on the coffee table. “I’ll be back by 5 am.” He walked back outside.
Santa Claus said, “Hop in!”
Rick got into the sleigh.
Santa yelled, “Run!” to his eight reindeer.
Rick smiled. The eight reindeer started lifting off the ground. They flew by Town Centre Mall, Brooks Secondary, Wildwood, Sliammon, Lund and the Powell River Peak building.
All of Rick’s troubles went away as he saw Powell River like he was never seen it before. This was truly a Christmas he would never forget.
