Ink Credible art show opens

Artist Kathryn Neun has rekindled an old printmaking technique and will have over 30 original pieces of art hanging in the foyer at Vancouver Island University (VIU) throughout June.

Ink Credible is an exhibition of art seldom seen today. Using intaglio, mezzotint, collograph and monotype techniques on a matrix of zinc, copper, slate stone, plastic or carborundum, Neun etches images onto plates. She then rubs and blends inks, which she has created, onto the image before placing it and paper onto the press bed. Rollers are manually wheeled over the plate to print the image, rendering mysterious and beautiful creations.

An opening reception, with refreshments, will take place at 7 pm, June 2 at VIU, 3960 Selkirk Avenue and Neun’s art will be exhibited until June 30.
