Multi-sensory art show in store

A new show at Artique Artists’ Cooperative will draw art and ukulele lovers to its doors.

The Artists’ Salon takes place at 7 pm on Thursday, December 4, and together with complimentary refreshments, attendees will enjoy music by Lotus and the Wildflowers, original singer-songwriter and ukulele duo.

Close to 30 local working artists and craftspeople will show their creations alongside guest artists.

Featured artist for December is Megan Dulcie Dill who presents her experimental audio painting Not Only Human Commons. The piece combines a three-minute binaural audio (left and right directional) field recording on headphones with a large landscape painting.

“The combination of looking and listening causes an intimate and multi-sensory experience to unfold,” explained Dulcie Dill. “It explores human relationships with animals and land in a painting layered with transparent maps, charcoal, paint and audio.”

Metals and precious stones, pottery, wood, soaps, photography, watercolour, oil and acrylic on canvas and board, works on paper, greeting cards, stained glass, glass beads, upcycled purses, fibre art and sculpture are just some of the varied materials used in the show.

Artique cooperative gallery is operated by artists. Artique is located at 4722 Marine Avenue.
