Musical career keeps twin sisters busy

by Kyle Wells reporter@prpeak.com Sisters Carli and Julie Kennedy, originally from Powell River, were featured in a recent CBC commercial for its upcoming series Cover Me Canada.

The short clip has the identical twin sisters playing Tom Cochrane’s radio favourite “Life is a Highway” on fiddle and guitar with their own particular country flavour. Despite the honour of being selected out of “thousands of applicants” to appear in the commercial, the Kennedy sisters report they will not be appearing in the show.

Aside from the spot on CBC, the Kennedys have other upcoming musical ventures to report on. They have recently completed their first country EP titled Small Town Stories, which can be heard on their website at www.cjkennedy.com. The pair also made their first visit to Canadian Country Music Week and Canadian Country Music Association in Hamilton, Ontario.

Next up, the sisters head to Nashville, Tennessee to perform and take part in co-writing sessions in the lead up to their next recording. They also hope to come to Powell River sometime this fall or winter to perform a CD release show, but have no details yet.
