Artist finds a different way to refurbish photographs
Photo art exhibition opens

As an artist, Caroline Jobe has parti-cipated in many group and solo shows as an acrylic painter, but she has also been a photographer for many years and will now show a potpourri of her work. Being a third-generation photographer, Jobe follows in her mother and Viennese grandfather’s footsteps.

Her show covers a variety of images, from people to landscape, digitally enhanced or natural. Spending many happy hours working with the images on the computer, it has become her favourite pastime when she is not painting. This show will have the first hardcopy version of her work.

Generally she shares her images on Facebook—the spontaneity and impermanence of it works for her. People comment on the images and having many Facebook friends from all over the world, she feels it’s a great way to share without the added expense of printing and framing.

Jobe was born in England, raised in Montreal and has been in Powell River for the last 20 years. She has been very involved in the arts community, having been one of the founding members of Artique Artists’ Cooperative, and a curator for many group shows, including the recent Expose Yourself exhibition.

Photography has been an ongoing part of her life and she is very excited to have the opportunity to display her Photo Ops art exhibition images at Malaspina Exhibition Centre in the foyer of Vancouver Island University, Powell River campus. An opening reception takes place from 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, April 12 where refreshments will be served. The exhibition will be available for viewing until May 8.
