Raven inspires artist

Work adorns walls of university foyer

Walls at the Malaspina Art Society (MAS) exhibition space, will be covered with images by D’arcy Treadwell, throughout the month of May.

MAS uses the foyer of Vancouver Island University (VIU) for its exhibits and starts each new show with a reception.

Treadwell, native-born in Chilliwack, BC, spent her childhood in Maui, Hawaii, before moving back to Canada in 1999.

The raven took flight in her early teens, when Treadwell had already found a style that would make her creations unique. She had felt an immediate connection to the raven, when she read a piece explaining what the raven represented. It was then she knew it was who she was.

The raven signature on her art intertwines with the simplicity and detail in her work. Her opening reception will be held from 7 to 9 pm, on Thursday, May 5. Everyone is invited to attend the reception or visit the VIU foyer to view Treadwell’s art.
