School announces casting call for film

Powell River Digital Film school seeking three males for roles

Auditions are being held at Brooks Secondary School for an upcoming film, Night Shift.

It is a film about two gas station clerks who encounter a man who tries to rob the store. The clerks offer him advice when it becomes obvious the robber doesn’t know what he’s doing and get him to reenact the robbery “the right way.”

Powell River Digital Film school is casting for three males in their 20s for characters named Carl, Dave and Robby. Carl is a 25-year-old high school dropout who doesn’t care about much, is lazy and has no motivation. He lives in the moment with a good sense of humour and is a relaxed person. He is shaggy and doesn’t care about appearance. He views

his job as a time-waster.

Dave is a straight, clean-cut 27-year-old who graduated with honours. He believes everyone should take life as seriously as he does. He believes his gas station job will propel him to a brighter future.

Robby is a 23-year-old who has resorted to stealing money. He feels like he can rob seamlessly though he has never done it before. He doesn’t always think things through but has good intentions.

Auditions for the characters will be held from 3 to 5 pm on Thursday, April 26 at Brooks. Interested readers can call Veronika Kurz at 604.414.9875 or email [email protected] to schedule an audition time.
