Stage set for island performing arts

Many disciplines capture young talent

Performers from Parksville to Port Hardy, Port Alberni to Powell River will participate in the North Island Festival of Performing Arts through to March 3, in the Comox Valley.

Disciplines included are strings, classical guitar, speech arts, fiddle, piano, vocal, musical theatre and dance disciplines including ballet, modern, stage and street.

The festival is a non-profit organization that relies on volunteers and donations from the community to continue functioning. Sessions are open to the public with a small admission fee. As with Powell River Festival of Performing Arts, youth who excel in their performances are recommended to the provincial festival, which will take place in Nanaimo.
