Two local artists will share the spotlight at Malaspina Exhibition Centre for the month of September.

Ursula Medley and Maggie Poole have collaborated on an exhibition entitled Double Vision featuring recent drawings and paintings created at home and away.

“This year I spent two weeks in northern Germany...where the flat landscape, canola fields and ancient villages offered new inspiration for paintings,” said Medley. “A bench on the seawall at Eckernfoerde provided harbour views for my morning sketches.”

Poole and Medley have often worked together in the studio and this year “we have worked on a series of paintings exploring the delights of the table,” said Poole.

Using different mediums, each artist draws inspiration in their own way from the subject. Medley delights in colour, while Poole is more interested in form and value.

“I enjoy the time we spend reviewing our work, and it has been interesting to see how our time together has influenced our paintings,” added Poole.

An opening reception will be held from 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, September 6 in the lobby of Vancouver Island University’s Powell River campus and both Poole and Medley will be in attendance. The exhibition will remain on display until October 10.
