For the past 23 years, Vancouver Island University has been running a reading series known as Writers on Campus to bring poets and fiction writers to the Cowichan Valley to read from and talk about their work as writers. On Tuesday, October 2, modern technology will bring a writer on campus to Powell River.
Computers, eBooks, and smartboards in classrooms are changing the educational environment in many ways. Following suit, through the use of new video-conferencing technology, an audience at Powell River’s campus will be able to listen, comment and ask questions of Robert J. Wiersema.
Wiersema, author of Before I Wake (2006), The World More Full of Weeping (2009), Bedtime Story (2010), and Walk Like A Man (2011) is also a respected books journalist and the event coordinator at Bolen Books in Victoria, BC. He marks the beginning of this year’s reading series.
Anyone interested in this free reading series is invited to attend the Powell River campus from 6 to 7:30 pm.
