AfterGlow Hair Lounge announced its relocation to 4552 Willingdon Avenue last April. The move comes after 12 successful years of serving Powell River and the qathet region.
“We needed more room to accommodate the growing demand and expanded services we offer,” says salon owner Holly Barnes. “We now have an additional 500-square-feet of space, allowing us to provide a more comfortable and spacious experience for our valued clients.”
The new location offers a refreshed aesthetic and enhanced features. With a more extensive retail area, AfterGlow Hair Lounge provides a broader selection of products, a spacious layout and a breathtaking ocean view, creating a serene ambiance, particularly during sunset.

“Services include hair treatments such as colour consultations, balayage, highlights and haircuts of various lengths,” says Barnes. “We also provide eyebrow and lash treatments, eyebrow laminating, nail services, waxing and body piercing.”
Additionally, the salon has expanded its offerings to include sunless tanning and teeth whitening. These new aesthetic services provide clients with a one-stop destination for their beauty needs.
Weddings are a particular specialty at AfterGlow, with the salon’s skilled stylists available year-round for events, seven days a week.
“The expanded space allows us to accommodate larger wedding parties comfortably, offering a range of services, including hairstyling and makeup,” adds Barnes. “We also cater to private parties and provide on-location services, ensuring a seamless and convenient experience for clients.”
To further enhance client convenience, AfterGlow Hair Lounge has launched a new website with an online booking system. Clients can now easily access the salon’s wait-list and book appointments at their convenience. The website also offers the option to purchase gift cards online, providing a seamless gifting experience.
The salon has been nominated and featured as Best of qathet and Upper Coast People’s Choice stylist multiple times from 2017 to 2022.
“Our dedicated team of stylists and professionals continue to strive for excellence, making sure clients receive the best possible experience,” explains Barnes.
While a grand opening celebration is in the works, the date has yet to be determined. The salon encourages clients and community members to stay updated on social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, for announcements regarding the grand opening event.
