As part of an International Women's Day feature, the Peak asked qathet region entrepreneurs about their journeys in business. Here are the responses from Karyne Bailey (Oceanside Entertainment):

What advice do you have for aspiring women entrepreneurs or professionals?
Know yourself. Know your strengths and weaknesses. Make sure if you have weakness in certain business areas that you get assistance, a mentor or hire someone who can assist you in those areas.

What inspired you to pursue a career in your industry?
To start my online bookstore, which is how we began, believe it or not, it was an Oprah Winfrey show talking about how you could take your passions and make it a career. My passions of the time were books, recycling and thrift store hunting. So I took $20, bought books and signed up to sell them online.

The change to being an entertainment store took 14 years and a number of plans and goals, but I am finally almost there. I still have a few things I want to add to the store over the coming years.

How has your journey shaped your approach to business?
I have always been an entrepreneur at heart. You have to love what you are selling, otherwise, the pitch falls flat. It took me a few tries to realize that the best business I could start would be based on my passions and once I did that, it really wasn’t work.
