Backyard burning is now allowed in City of Powell River.
From April 1 to April 30, residents can burn garden and yard refuse from 9 am to 3 pm daily. Conditions for burning include the venting index being good and that the pile being burned is no larger than one cubic metre in size.
In order to burn, residents must purchase a $25 burning permit at city hall. The burning permit is good for the year, with the other permissible burning period being November.
The burning permit comes with an information sheet outlining the city’s regulations.
Failure to comply with regulations could result in a $200 fine.
