Arts centre in Lund hosts artist’s exploration exhibition

Prashant Miranda has been showing his work in Lund since 2019

Award-winning animator and now painter, muralist and author Prashant Miranda became intrigued by the upper Sunshine Coast after visiting friends in 2014.

“I took the train from Toronto to Vancouver and from there, I made my way up here; I fell in love with the region,” said Miranda. “I knew I had to come back every year and slowly, I made my way here, until I got my artist residency in 2019, and the rest is history.”

His exhibition, Pacifiq Madness, opened the evening of April 21, but the public is welcome to see his work until May 7, open 2 pm to 7 pm daily.

Prashant means “Pacific” in his native language of Hindi, so it makes sense he was finally able to make the west coast of Canada his home. This is the artist’s fifth in a series of ongoing artist explorations, starting with Pacific Exploration in 2019, then Pacific Healing, Pacific Connections, Pacific Magic and now Pacifiq Madness.

He was the subject of a National Geographic documentary about his travels drawing across India. Some of his journals from that trip are on display, along with painting and sculpture he has been working on for the past many months.
