Due to a lack of crew availability on Salish Orca, BC Ferries has announced the following cancellations for the Powell River/Comox route on Tuesday, June 6.

6:15 am departing Little River (Comox)
8:05 am departing Westview (Powell River)

The next round trip was also at risk of cancellation, but BC Ferrries announced at 8:48 am that the staffing shortage has been resolved and service will resume with the 9:55 am sailing departing Little River (Comox) and the 11:50 am return departing Westview (Powell River).

"We require a specific number of crew members on board the vessel to ensure the safety of our passengers in the unlikely event of an emergency and to comply with Transport Canada regulations," stated BC Ferries. "The decision to cancel a sailing in these circumstances is made when we have exhausted all options to find replacement crew."

BC Ferries' Customer Service Centre will contact customers with bookings on cancelled sailings to let them know if space is available to fit them on an alternate sailing later in the day, or if their booking must be cancelled. In the case of a cancellation, BC Ferries will refund fees and/or fares.
