On the heels of another uptick in COVID-19 cases in the province, Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, and Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.'s provincial health officer, have called a press conference for Wednesday afternoon.

The original itinerary called for a written statement on Tuesday followed by a day-off Wednesday but that has since changed.

Tuesday health officials confirmed 30 new cases of COVID-19 identified in British Columbia, 11 of which have come from the Interior Health region.

In their written statement, Henry and Dix announced there have been 3,328 total positive tests province-wide.

It is widely believed that today's press conference could include new guidelines for restaurants as pressure mounts to flatten the curve of COVID-19 in B.C.

Most of the recent cases of infection are a result of exposure linked to big parties, restaurants and bars.

Currently, there are 266 active cases of the virus in B.C., with 75 active cases in the Interior. Interior cases have skyrocketed following multiple exposure events earlier this month in Kelowna.

Dr. Henry also called an unplanned COVID-19 update press conference last Friday, in order to speak on the uptick in cases and outbreaks, including one at the neo-natal unit at Vancouver's St. Paul's Hospital.
