BC Transit service expands

Saturday HandyDART part of schedule increase

Effective January 4, Powell River transit customers will see more service and longer hours to the local transit system. Evening service on No. 1 Townsite/Wildwood loop, No. 2 Grief Point and No. 3 Upper Westview will run Monday through Friday, up from just three days a week.

Customers will also benefit with an additional afternoon trip on each of the routes, along with an extra morning trip to Sliammon via No. 1 Townsite/Wildwood Loop, increasing frequency and providing more options.

HandyDART service will now be available to customers on Saturdays, along with more service during the weekdays.

“City of Powell River staff is looking forward to providing this enhanced service to our valued customers” said Tor Birtig, Manager of Operational Services.

Funding for the transit system is cost-shared among City of Powell River, Powell River Regional District and BC Transit.

Decisions about fares, routes and service levels in Powell River’s urban areas are made by the regional district based on information and planning provided by BC Transit.
