Traffic from Wildwood enters the bridge at the lower end of Powell Lake. A single lane has been open to alternating traffic all summer while work is being done on the structure.

Another closure of the Wildwood bridge has been scheduled for Friday, September 2, between midnight and 6 am.

The span connects the Townsite neighbourhood in Powell River with Wildwood, Tla'amin Nation and Lund. The bridge has been undergoing upgrades all summer.

According to Luxton Construction quality manager Jordan Sciberras, the bridge will be closed for deck resurfacing work.

“Emergency services in the area have been consulted,” stated Sciberras, “and accommodation plans are in place in the event of an emergency.”

A previous notification from the company stated that the closure would take place on Tuesday, August 30.

"There have been delays in our schedule, stated Sciberras, "and we are now planning to proceed with the closure of the Wildwood Bridge the morning of Friday, September 2."
