An initiative to help improve provincial property value assessment is being rolled out in Powell River.

Starting Saturday, September 12, residents will see white BC Assessment vans taking street level photos of homes. Camera-mounted vans have been in use in Metro Vancouver for a number of years.

The photos will also be used on the Crown corporation’s publicly accessible website, evaluebc.ca.

Bill Dawson, deputy assessor for Vancouver Island, explained that a typical property re-assessment cycle  of six to 10 years can be sped up by using the technology. For more information, readers can visit bcassessment.ca
