A march to recognize the global day of mobilization for action on climate reality will take place in Powell River, Sunday, September 21.

Local organizer CaroleAnn Leishman is hoping many community members will gather at noon at Willingdon South gravel lot, march along Marine Avenue and up Duncan Street to deliver “respectful messages to City of Powell River mayor and council of how we want to see action on preventing climate change and reducing our carbon footprint in a dramatic way,” she said. The march will then continue along Joyce Avenue and down Alberni Street, back to Willingdon.

Powell River joins with over 1,500 events in 130 countries taking part on the same day. “Our demand is for action, not words,” states the People’s Climate March organization behind the worldwide event.
