Former fire prevention officer takes top Victoria job

Jeff Lambert, former chief fire prevention officer with Powell River Fire Rescue, has been named the new fire chief of Victoria Fire Department.

Lambert spent 16 years, from 1986 through to early 2003, with Powell River Fire Rescue, filling the position of assistant fire chief and chief fire prevention officer for his last three years. Lambert started out as an auxiliary firefighter before progressing through the ranks of volunteer and career fire departments.

“We welcome Chief Lambert to the Capital City,” said City of Victoria Mayor Dean Fortin in a press release. “We look forward to his leadership and vision.”

Lambert beings his new position on Monday, July 25.
