Members of City of Powell River’s finance committee referred a number of grants in aid to council for approval during the council meeting Thursday, April 16.
Powell River Action Centre Food Bank was given $8,000. Powell River and District Christmas Cheer Committee and Powell River Home and Garden Association were each given $2,000. Powell River Earth Week organizing committee was given $1,600. Powell River Cycling Association was given $850.
Council approved $15,150 of grants in aid from the $40,300 annual budget for cash grants. Another $20,000 for in-kind donations has been budgeted for facility or bus usage. According to a staff report, close to $38,000-worth of requests were made from seven applications during last month’s intake.
