BUILDING UNDERWAY: City of Powell River is closing the Willingdon Beach trail and lower Millennium Park trails due to construction for the consolidated wastewater treatment plant.

Construction of City of Powell River’s new consolidated wastewater treatment plant has reached the point that the installation of line connections from the Westview neighbourhood to the site of the new facility will begin.

According to a media release from the city, as a result, the Willingdon Beach trail and lower Millennium Park trails between the Willingdon Beach campsite and the haul road to the mill will be closed to the public from November 1, 2021, through to June 30, 2022, to allow for construction.

The media release states the city apologizes for any inconvenience this creates, but in the interest of public safety for residents and workers, access to the trails must be restricted during this period.

The city thanked trail users for their patience and understanding regarding this matter.
