MORE TIME: City of Powell River’s annual report will be available for public inspection for an additional two weeks after it was discovered that the wrong set of financial statements had been published in the first version.

Residents will have additional time to comment on City of Powell River’s draft 2020 annual report.

At the June 15 committee of the whole meeting, director of properties, development and communications Scott Randolph said the wrong set of financial statements were provided to be included in the draft 2020 annual report.

“As a result of that, legal counsel has advised that we need to extend our period of notification to review the 2020 draft annual report,” said Randolph. “The document has been revised to include the proper set of financial statements, which will be put on display, now that we’ve given you notice.

“As a result, we’ll be running notices for the next two weeks asking people to provide us with any questions or changes they may see. So, they get an extra two weeks to look at the document and we’ll be bringing it back to you on July 15 for final approval and a report out on any changes or questions that we had received from the public.”

Deputy corporate officer Malonie Shaffer suggested the committee of the whole endorse the draft City of Powell River 2020 annual report, making it available for public inspection, and referring it to the July 15 council meeting, where public submissions and questions will be considered. The committee gave unanimous consent to do so.
