At the December 21, City of Powell River Council meeting, councillors approved the renewal of the 2018 library service agreement between Powell River Public Library board and qathet Regional District (qRD) for a five-year term, which began January 1.

According to a staff report, the library board and qRD have an agreement regarding governance and administration, which is separate from the operating budget cost-sharing agreement between the city and qRD.

The library service agreement does, however, outline the payment schedule between qRD and the library, so without it, there would be little guidance for how and when qRD funding would occur.
