Names directors

City of Powell River Council has appointed three people as directors of Powell River Community Forest.

At the April 1 city council meeting, councillors named Bill Bird, Mark Hassett and Janet May as directors of the community forest for three-year terms.

Additionally, councillors voted that mayor Dave Formosa be affirmed as the duly authorized representative for the city as the sole shareholder, in order to vote at the annual general meeting of Powell River Community Forest Ltd, which was held on April 7. Councillor Maggie Hathaway was named as the alternate.

Funding approved

Councillors voted that $29,500 for the city’s 2020 capital projects included in the March 25 report titled “short-term borrowing resolution for 2020 capital projects” be approved and funded from the COVID-19 safe restart grant.
