Approves permit

City of Powell River council approved a development variance permit for a property at 7251 Huntingdon Street.

At the November 4 city council meeting, councillors unanimously approved the development permit, which will permit a carriage house to be sited 5.7 metres from the front lot line and to the front of a principal dwelling. According to a staff report, the subject property is owned by Powell River Educational Services Society (PRESS), which wants to construct a carriage house on the property for one of its clients.

The property is a corner lot that fronts both Manson Avenue to the east and Huntingdon Street to the south.

Siting home

Council approved a development variance permit to allow a carriage home to be sited to the front of a principal dwelling on a property at 5557 Park Avenue. The owner of the property wants to designate the existing single-family dwelling on the property as a carriage house so the new principal dwelling can be constructed behind it, according to a staff report.

Terms amended

Amendments to the Powell River Sports Hall of Fame terms of reference have been made. The changes include extending the advisory committee membership term until October 31, 2022, from July 29, 2022, and removing the wording “sports wall of fame” from the terms of reference, and simply referring to it as the sports hall of fame.
