Crews have been working since early this morning keeping roads cleared, according to a City of Powell River media release at 9 am on Wednesday, January 16.
At 11 am, the cty sent out another media release announcing that BC Transit service has been cancelled until weather conditions improve.
Snow removal is being concentrated on major routes, with side streets being done whenever possible. There are no cancellations to garbage collection.
The city advises residents to be cautious and allow extra time to get to destinations as conditions may be slippery.
