City of Powell River’s 2018 statement of financial information (SOFI) has been approved by city council and will be forwarded to the provincial government.
The SOFI report was approved at the Thursday, June 20, council meeting prior to deadline.
At the June 18 committee of the whole meeting, manager of accounting services Mallory Denniston said the Financial Information Act requires every local government in BC to submit SOFI to the provincial government by June 30 of each year.
“Under these regulations, municipal councils must prove the financial information submitted to the ministry,” said Denniston. “The SOFI report lists remuneration and expenses for the mayor and council, and those employees who exceeded $75,000 in remuneration in 2018.”
It also lists suppliers of goods and services that exceed $25,000 during the year, plus City of Powell River consolidated financial statements.
According to the 2018 SOFI report, remuneration and expenses paid to council members are as follows: total remuneration was $161,153, with expenses of $42,761.
Employees earning more than $75,000 are also listed in the SOFI report. They include:
· Fire department, salaries $1,991,400, expenses $19,048
· Directors/senior staff, salaries $894,175, expenses $44,267
· Managers, salaries $783,359, expenses $22,631
· Supervisors, salaries $700,177, expenses $12,329
· All other categories, salaries, $1,239,811, expenses $30,853
Remuneration paid in 2018 to employees earning $75,000 or more was $5,608,865, with expenses of $129,881.
The consolidated total of other employees earning less than $75,000 is $7,222,761, with expenses of $137,985.
The total for employees in City of Powell River is $12,831,626, with expenses of $267,866.
