A vote to continue funding City of Powell River’s Zunga Bus on-demand transportation pilot project failed at the city council meeting on December 21, 2023, resulting in the program ceasing operations as of January 1, 2024.

According to a media release from the city on December 29, council has decided to reconsider this matter at a special meeting on January 2, 2024. The meeting will start at 3:30 pm and will be broadcast on the city's website. There will not be any Zunga Bus service on January 1 or 2.
