EXPECT DELAYS: Construction for the new consolidated wastewater treatment plant will be taking place in Westview for a three-week period of time, disrupting traffic along the route.

As part of the Willingdon corridor conveyance to the new consolidated wastewater treatment plant in Townsite, work along Courtenay Street is expected to commence on March 8 or 9 and continue for three weeks.

According to a media release from City of Powell River, all of Courtenay Street west of Willingdon Avenue will be closed to traffic, except for access to the BC Ferries terminal. The release indicates that motorists can expect delays to accessing the terminal and through the intersection of Willingdon Avenue and Courtenay Street.

The release stated that the north harbour parking lot will remain open, with limited access from the uppermost (east) entrance. The boat launch will also remain open, but access to the launch and marina will be via Wharf Street, according to the release.

For public safety and assistance, signage and traffic control personnel will be in place at all times.

The city stated it apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks people for their patience and cooperation.
