INCORRECT INFORMATION: Police have stated that a flyer indicating that COVID-19 restrictions in Canada end on March 1 are untrue and that restrictions remain in place

On February 25 at approximately 3 pm, Powell River RCMP received a report that someone was placing flyers on vehicles parked in the parking lot of the Town Centre mall.

According to a media release from Powell River RCMP, the flyer indicated that on March 1, all COVID-19 restrictions would be over in Canada. The flyer went on to state that masks were no longer mandatory, social distancing is not required, all lockdowns are lifted, and made a number of other claims regarding COVID-19 restrictions, the release stated.

The RCMP want to advise everyone who received or viewed the flyers that the claims made are completely untrue. All COVID-19 restrictions including social distancing, mandatory mask wearing inside buildings as well as any previous restrictions already in place remain in place at this time, the release stated.

Police advise that for current COVID-19 guidelines, contact the local health authority.
