At City of Powell River’s committee of the whole meeting on February 27, a decision to name two new roads was moved forward to the regular council meeting on Thursday, March 15. The city’s planning department recommended adoption of Edgehill Crescent and Lazo Street as names for the new roads in Westview. The developer suggested Cassidy Street, which does not conform to the city’s street-naming bylaw. The bylaw stipulates streets in Westview must be named after a city or town in BC and follow in alphabetical order. The planning department provided the committee with a list of names that met the criteria, including Lazo, Lavington, Lebahdo, Lister and Lumby.
