Council supports licence amendment

City of Powell River council voted to support an application from Tree Frog Bistro to amend its liquor licence to allow a dance floor. Council considered there is no potential for negative noise impact on the neighbourhood or negative community impact, with the exception of adequate customer parking for this and adjacent businesses. Due to the nature and minor scope of the amendment, the motion recommended waiving gathering the views of residents.

Variances

Council voted to issue two development variance permits. The first facilitates a two-lot subdivision at 4627 Manson Avenue and varies the zoning bylaw by reducing the side setback for a proposed lot from 0.9 to 0.5 metres and increases the lot coverage for the same lot from 10 per cent to a maximum of 12 per cent of the lot area, in order to maintain an existing accessory building.

The second variance permit is for 4907 Fernwood Avenue and also facilitates a two-lot subdivision. It reduces the rear setback for a proposed lot from 7.5 to five metres and reduces the lot area for a second proposed lot from 730 to 620 square metres.

Bylaws

Council adopted four bylaws that established reserve funds for monies collected from development cost charges. The bylaws establish water facilities, sewer facilities, storm sewer and park land reserve funds.
