At approximately 2 am an officer on patrol noted a black pickup truck parked in front of a local drinking establishment. A short time later the officer observed the same vehicle at a convenience store. A sobriety check was conducted and the driver displayed signs of impairment. A roadside screening device test was performed which the driver failed. The 36-year-old male driver from Powell River was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

April 26

At approximately 8 pm police attended a scene to help BC Ambulance Service paramedics with an injured male. After a bit of convincing the male was taken to Powell River General Hospital to have minor injuries assessed. The male, who was highly intoxicated, refused medical assistance and became rude and confrontational with medical staff. The 33-year-old Powell River resident was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. He was taken back to the detachment and lodged in jail to sober up.
