1. April 16

6900 block Cranberry Street

At approximately 11 pm police executed a search warrant on a residence. As a result of the search over 80 marijuana plants were seized along with over two pounds of dried marijuana. A 57-year-old male from Powell River will appear in court in May to answer to the charge of production of a controlled substance.

2. April 18

7600 block Duncan Street

Police responded to a theft from a motor vehicle. It was learned that no less than 11 vehicles had been rifled through with mostly loose change and small electronics stolen. All vehicles had been left unlocked. This type of crime has impacted all areas of the city. Police ask people to lock their vehicles as this is typically a crime of opportunity. Anyone with information about this or any other crime is asked to call Powell River RCMP 604.485.6255 or CrimeStoppers 1.800.222.8477 (TIPS).

3. April 19

4600 block Marine Avenue

At approximately 11:30 pm police conducted a traffic stop. Officers noted a smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A subsequent search located various controlled substances including marijuana, methadone, hashish and ecstasy. The 46-year-old male driver and his 39-year-old female passenger, both from Texada Island, face charges of possession of a controlled substance. It was learned they were heading to a party where there were under-aged youth.
