1. Between April 20 and 21

6800 block Lesley Crescent, 4000 block Gordon Avenue

Overnight some personal effects were stolen from an unlocked vehicle while parked. The missing items included a purse, wallet and iPod. During the same evening, a drill and drill bits were taken from another vehicle. The drill and bits were in a red case approximately two feet by two feet in size. Anyone with information about these thefts is asked to contact Powell River RCMP 604.485.6255 or CrimeStoppers 1.800.222.8477 (TIPS).

2. April 23

A local Powell River resident received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Canada Revenue. The unknown caller stated that almost $2,000 dollars was owed to Canada Revenue and if it was not paid immediately the resident would be arrested. Luckily, the resident refused to send the money. This promptly ended the phone conversation.

3. April 25

7000 block Duncan Street

Between 6:15 and 8:30 pm a vehicle was keyed while parked at a medical service provider station.

4. April 26

Highway 101 near King Avenue

A vehicle collided with a hydro pole. The driver, who did not sustain any injuries, demonstrated signs of alcohol consumption and was taken back to the Powell River RCMP detachment to provide breath samples. The results confirmed the driver was driving while under the influence. As a result the driver’s licence was seized and the driver is facing the criminal code charge of operation of a motor vehicle while impaired.

5. April 26

A red 2003 Pontiac Montana was stopped by police. The driver did not have a valid driver’s licence as it had recently been seized for a previous incident related to driving while impaired. As a result the vehicle was impounded for a minimum of seven days.
