1. January 31

4400 block Michigan Avenue

At 1:51 am police responded to a mischief complaint to a building. Two males were seen vandalizing the building by spray-painting graffiti on the side of it. Through the course of the investigation the two males were identified, and one has been charged with mischief. He is to appear in court in April.

2. February 1

7100 block Alberni Street

At 4:28 pm police responded to a complaint of an intoxicated male. A 54-year-old male was located and arrested. The male was taken to cells and released the next morning without charge.

3. February 6

Joyce Avenue

At 2:48 am police stopped a vehicle heading northbound. Police spoke with the 17-year-old driver who showed signs of impairment. When asked to provide a breath sample, the driver failed to do so. The driver has been issued a 90-day driving prohibition and 30-day impound under the Motor Vehicle Act.

4. February 6

Marine Avenue at Duncan Street

At 11:46 am police received a mischief complaint. Three large plant pots containing plants and a garbage can had been tipped over sometime during the previous night. Anybody with information about this incident is asked to contact Powell River RCMP at 604.485.6255 or CrimeStoppers at 1.800.222.8477 (TIPS).

5. February 6

At 7:05 pm police received a complaint of two hikers who had passed their vehicle and become lost. Police contacted Powell River Search and Rescue who located the hikers approximately two hours later. Neither hiker was injured during the incident.
